South Sound coffee roasters work in towns from Gig Harbor and Puyallup to Sumner, Bonney Lake, Lacey and Tumwater. One of them, Dillanos, began as a single espresso cart in Buckley and now roasts in Sumner. The South Sound's coffee story
In 1992 David J. Morris set up an espresso cart outside the Sunshine Mart in Buckley, a convenience store run by his stepfather. He named it Dillanos, after his oldest son, Dillon.
The cart grew into a wholesale roaster. Dillanos is now based in Sumner, and it supplies more than 1,500 wholesale locations around the country.
Gig Harbor's roasting is newer. MilkMan Roasters Coffee has roasted there since 2019.
