Puyallup's coffee story

Dillanos started as an espresso cart in Buckley in 1992. David J. Morris went into business with Howard Heyer, who ran the store beside the cart, and in 1994 David's brother Chris Heyer bought in at 19, already an experienced cart barista. The three turned it into a wholesale roaster, sold the retail stands and moved the roasting to Sumner. In 2022 it bought Avalanche Distributing of Zillah.

Dan and Debi Bennett started Martin Henry in the Puyallup Valley in 1998, buying only 100 percent Arabica. A 2022 post on its site says it had supplied Bay Street Coffee Company in Bremerton for over 10 years.

Vinyl's founders, Michael Hochstatter and Andy Brooks, met while managing a coffee shop in Sumner. They started roasting during the 2020 lockdowns with records playing, and delivered the first orders around the valley by moped. Part of the money from its Valley Blend goes to Spartan Boosters, which backs student athletes at Sumner High School.

How we chose these roasters

Every roaster here roasts in Washington and was operating when we read its own site, on the date its card shows (the list itself was last checked 2026-09-27). Facts come from each roaster's own pages, written in our words; we take nothing from reviews and show no ratings. No roaster pays to be listed, and a listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club. Run a roaster here and something is off? Email coffee@palousecoffeeclub.com and we correct or remove the page.
