Covabrelli Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Tumwater, founded in 2006. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Lou and Carol Nemeth started the business at home in March 2006, and it still roasts to order in Tumwater. Lou started on a small drum roaster at home and later moved to a larger machine that records the profile of every batch on a computer. Lou Nemeth took his coffee with cream and sugar until a friend served him freshly roasted beans in 2005. He roasted on a Diedrich IR-3 for 12 years before moving to a Mill City 10 kilo drum.
All of its green coffee comes from USDA certified organic cooperatives in Africa, Central America, South America and Indonesia, bought through importers it trusts to check the supply chain. The roastery runs classes for home roasters, including a 2025 El Salvador origin session led by Rebecca Cooper, who once roasted and bought green coffee for Olympia Coffee Roasters. Cafes, restaurants and grocers buying wholesale get their coffee within 48 hours of roasting, and churches and larger groups can ask for a discounted rate.
