Their story
Michael Hochstatter and Andy Brooks met while managing a coffee shop in Sumner and started the roaster during the 2020 lockdowns. Early orders were roasted while records played and delivered around the valley by moped. Before the roaster existed, the two managers would pool their tip money after shifts and head to the record store together.
The company now ships to subscribers around the country and supplies shops across the Pacific Northwest, and its bag labels borrow from classic album covers. Music is still part of the business, which broadcasts its own Vinyl Coffee Radio stream at all hours. Its 33 Blend, described as chocolate and caramel with dried dark fruit, also goes into a canned nitro cold brew whose label pictures the two founders.
Wholesale accounts are offered coaching for their baristas, with a focus on treating each customer visit as a relationship.

Customers inside Sumner get free local delivery and pickup on their coffee orders. Part of the money from its Valley Blend goes to Spartan Boosters, which supports student athletes at Sumner High School, and its mugs are thrown by a Sumner potter, Loden Fiber Co.
