Their story
Mint City is a small batch roaster that handles sourcing, roasting and brewing itself, with a focus on steady quality. Kyle Askin, the roaster and a co-owner, got his start brewing pour-overs at his work desk for himself and many others. Its Compass blend pairs Brazil Salmo with Guatemala La Morena, and many of its green coffees come through the importer Genuine Origin.
What they roast
House blends include Compass and Landmark. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopia Sidamo, Brazil Salmo, Guatemala La Morena, Tanzania Peaberry, Sumatra Koperasi Organic, Colombia Huila El Tiple Supremo and Nicaragua La Bastilla Natural. The cafe has hosted free brewing demos with Ben Jones, whom the events page calls the 2016 AeroPress World Champion. Its coffee cart serves drinks at outdoor events, such as a folk concert by The Riverside on Cemetery Road.
