July: First combines

Year one: seed to harvest

Your first year is twelve boxes, one for each stage of the Palouse wheat year, starting with fall seeding and ending at the August harvest. The roaster changes every box. Whitman County, in the middle of the Palouse, grows more wheat than any other county in the country.

Box 01, September: SeedingWinter wheat goes in first. In a year with enough moisture, seeding is largely done in September.

Questions from the road

How does the first free bag work?

Your first box comes with one free bag, and you pay the $7.99 shipping. After that it is $16.99 a bag plus $7.99 shipping a box. You get an email 3 days before every box, and you can skip, pause or cancel anytime. One free bag per customer: we match it by email and shipping address, and a repeat order pays full price. A two-bag box starts at $24.98 (the free bag, one paid bag and shipping), then $41.97 a box.

How much is shipping?

$7.99 a box, whether it holds one bag or two, anywhere in the US. It is in the total you see above, before checkout. Gifts ship free.

How fresh is the coffee?

Roasted and shipped within 3 days. Each roaster roasts your bag to order and sends it straight from their roastery.

Can I skip, pause or cancel?

Yes, anytime before the next box is roasted. A reminder email comes 3 days before each box, so nothing ships by surprise.

How do I manage my subscription?

Every email we send has links to skip a box, pause, change your card or cancel.

What if I do not like a bag?

Free replacement if a bag disappoints. Tell us and we send a different coffee. Your ratings steer the next bag, too.

We like different coffee. Can we share?

Yes. Pick two bags and set the second one to a different roast: light and decaf, dark and espresso, any pair. Both come from that month's roasters in the same box.

What if I start in the middle of the year?

Everyone starts at Box 1, Seeding, whenever they join, and works through to Harvest.

Will I get the same roaster twice?

Not in your first year. With 209 independent roasters in Washington, each box is one you have not had from us before.

What happens after Box 12?

You have made it to harvest. Year two starts again at seeding, with twelve roasters you have not had yet. Stop anytime.

Do you ship outside Washington?

Yes, anywhere in the US. Plenty of our boxes go to people who moved away and miss home.
