Their story

The brand started in Ketchikan, Alaska, and ran a second roastery in Tumwater from 2002. In 2026 it closed the Ketchikan plant and now serves all customers from Tumwater. Mostly a wholesale roaster, it also sells direct online with free shipping over a set order size. Founder Michael Beech began roasting in a friend's Ketchikan garage in September 1992, using a small electric fluid bed roaster bought from roasting pioneer Michael Sivetz.

Ketchikan artist Ray Troll drew the company logo, a raven rising out of a steaming cup of coffee. After a Ketchikan Daily News story that December, state environmental officials shut down the garage, and the roaster moved into an old fish industry bunkhouse near downtown. Its blends carry names such as Deadman's Reach, Wicked Wolf, Three Peckered Billy Goat and Double Dead, and the company says each is built for a different occasion, time of day or caffeine level.

Roast levels run Light Roast, Medium Roast, Full City Roast, Dark Roast and French Roast. House blends include Deadman's Reach, Three Peckered Billy Goat, Double Dead, Wicked Wolf, Resurrection Blend, Bruin Blend, Skookum Blend and Breakfast Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Misty Fjords and Ebony Pearls. Decaf: Decaf Skookum Blend and Decaf Organic Raven's Brew House Blend.
