Roasters in and near Ellensburg
- D&M Coffee: the roastery on Washington Avenue roasts, packs and distributes everything itself and roasts fresh each day. The shelf runs from the Hi-Octane and Lion's Rock blends to single origins from Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Sumatra and Kenya.
- Colockum Craft Coffee: a small batch roaster whose best seller, Woodsman, is a medium blend of Guatemala and Brazil. Bushcraft is the dark take on the same beans and goes into its cold brew.
- Solid Grounds Coffee Roasting: Jadon Wise started roasting in 2019. His single origins include a Nicaragua Cafe Diego sold as direct trade and a Fair Trade Malawi Mzuzu AA.
We list these roasters as local favorites. A listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club.
Ellensburg's coffee story
D&M started in 1990 in a Scamp trailer that Donna and Mark had turned into an espresso bar. The two met as art majors at Central Washington University, where Mark paid his way working in restaurants and Donna as a hairstylist.
Mark is still the master roaster. Green coffee comes straight from the importer, and he sets airflow, temperature and roast time to suit each lot. Wholesale accounts now pour D&M across Washington and in Oregon, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska, while bakers bring scones, croissants, breakfast calzones and cruffins to its Ellensburg cafes each morning.
Colockum names its coffees for the outdoors. Elk Camp is a dark Ethiopian pitched at cold mornings in hunting camp, and Smokejumper is the darkest roast it makes. It also sells single-use brew cups, with a 12 count variety pack that covers six coffees.
Solid Grounds has sold coffee to the Kittitas Valley since 2019, and its menu goes well past the beans: acai bowls, wraps, bagels and smoothies. Our Washington coffee road trip stops in Ellensburg on the way across I-90.

How we chose these roasters
Every roaster here roasts in Washington and was operating when we read its own site, on the date its card shows (the list itself was last checked 2026-09-27). Facts come from each roaster's own pages, written in our words; we take nothing from reviews and show no ratings. No roaster pays to be listed, and a listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club. Run a roaster here and something is off? Email coffee@palousecoffeeclub.com and we correct or remove the page.
