Rivers Bend Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Longview. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The Longview roaster concentrates on single-origin coffees along with a line it calls Cuppa Joe Blends. Master roaster Eddie B came to coffee after a trip with his father to the Papua New Guinea highlands, where he toured the Madan plantation and a village school paid for through a direct trade deal. He trained under the roastmaster at Portland Coffee Roasters, then spent five years on farms in Hawaii's Kona coffee region.
According to the company, he holds a Q grader license, judges cuppings, and has held board seats with the Hawaii Coffee Association, the Kona Coffee Council and the Oregon Coffee Board. Before opening his own roastery he helped Red Leaf Coffee set up a roasting operation that now supplies its cafes. Several blends are personal: Lake House recalls early mornings at a family lake cabin, and Leannore, named for his mother, uses Colombian coffee from a cooperative run by women.
Cuppa Joe Blends are the budget line, built for home drip machines from the same green coffee as the pricier signature blends.

House blends include Tres Rios, Lake House and Leannore. Single origins on the list when we checked: Sumatra Takengon Fajar Jeumpa, Columbia Huila Asprotimana, Costa Rica Birri Heredia, Ethiopia Sidamo Natural, Guatemala Huehuetenango, Kenya Kiambu Gathugu AB, Rwanda Dukunde Kawa Ruli and Kona Aloha.
