Peaceful Valley Coffee Co is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Spokane, founded in 2024. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Founder Bryn Garrehy grew up in Spokane and spent close to twenty years in coffee, including work in Oakland, San Francisco and Seattle. He buys, roasts and checks the quality of every coffee himself, and each order is roasted fresh. The Spokesman-Review reported in December 2024 that Garrehy had begun selling coffee that February, after roughly a year of setup work.
His resume in the same article includes Equator Coffees in Northern California, six years at Blue Bottle Coffee ending as a corporate trainer, and Seattle Coffee Works through the pandemic. Instead of a flame-heated drum, the roaster uses an electric fluid bed machine that lifts beans on hot air, and customers can ask for anything from a light American roast to a double dark French roast.

Why buying from Peaceful Valley Coffee Co matters here
The roaster is based in the Peaceful Valley neighborhood along the Spokane River and delivers free inside Spokane city limits. Patera, a temperance lounge on East Sprague Avenue in Spokane, was the first business to carry the coffee, and it has poured a Maple Street Bridge blend. Garrehy told the paper he picked the name because Peaceful Valley, once known as Poverty Flats, has long been one of the city's most overlooked neighborhoods.
