Makeworth Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Bellingham, founded in 2019. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Since starting in 2019, the company has framed itself as a hospitality-led coffee business that values connection as much as the roasting. Its home page lists it as a finalist for Sprudge's 2026 Notable Roaster of the Year award and a 2025 packaging design semi-finalist. Beyond its own label, the wholesale catalog includes coffees packed for other cafes, such as a Pilgrim line.
Both halves of the flagship Symmetry Blend come from the same Colombian producers in Antioquia, Quindio and Huila; one lot is washed and the other natural. The company picks sugarcane-processed decaf over Swiss Water, arguing on its blog that the ethyl acetate method keeps more of the coffee's flavor. A Honduras Young Producers Lot comes from the CAFEUNO cooperative in El Paraiso, and the roaster published that growers were paid $4.04 per pound for it.
Cafes and shops can buy wholesale with no contracts and no minimums, choosing from rotating microlots.
What they roast
House blends include Symmetry Blend and Heirloom Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Colombia Nitro Caturra, Ethiopia Gori Gesha, Colombia Red Bourbon, Brazil Essencia, Colombia Loganberry, Colombia Pink Bourbon, Colombia Peachy Keen, Guatemala Flor del Cafe, Ethiopia Habtamu Danche and Mexico La Herradura. Decaf: Colombia Decaf Tolima (sugarcane process). Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.
