Kafiex Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Vancouver, founded in 2018. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Matthew and Seidy Selivanow began at farmers markets and opened a full roastery in downtown Vancouver in 2018. Coffees are grouped as Traditional, Modern and Reserve, and both founders compete in national roasting and barista events. Matthew Selivanow holds Q Arabica grader certification, and the company says he placed fourth at the United States Roasting Championship in both 2024 and 2025, while Seidy placed eighth and seventh at the national barista championship.
Its wholesale page says Roast Magazine named Kafiex its 2026 Micro Roaster of the Year, and the company supplies cafes, restaurants, hotels and offices across the country with coffee, equipment and barista training. The Gastro Cafe centers on a slow bar with a large siphon setup and about eight pour-over choices, including experimental and competition lots.
What they roast
House blends include Kundalini Espresso Blend, Three Amigos Espresso Blend, Esther Short Filter Blend, Vancouver Filter Blend, Cupidone House Blend and El Gaucho House Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Julio Cesar Madrid, Finca Milan, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Banko Gotiti, Sebastian Ramirez, El Placer and Tapasya Colombia Dark Roast. Decaf: Colombia Swiss Water Decaf. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

Why buying from Kafiex Roasters matters here
The Coffee Lab sits next to the Vancouver Farmers Market, where the business first sold coffee. A 23-foot mural of a Mexican coffee farm by artist Nikki Cade covers a wall at the waterfront Gastro Cafe, and the espresso menu nods to the owners' Latin roots with house chocolate and Mexican caramel. The Coffee Lab by the farmers market doubles as a classroom, hosting coffee classes and cuppings for customers who want help choosing beans for home.
Every bag bought from a Vancouver roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Washington, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
