Hidden River Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Washougal, founded in 2016. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Brandon began roasting at home in 2015 on a small roaster his wife Serene gave him for Christmas, and the company was formally founded in 2016. A roastery and coffeehouse opened in 2018; the coffeehouse has since been sold, and the business now centers on roasting, wholesale and private label. Wholesale customers range from cafes and restaurants to golf courses, offices and churches, all supplied from its Southwest Washington roastery.
Through private label, businesses can sell coffee under their own brand for retail, client gifts, tournaments or fundraisers without running a roaster. Every order is roasted fresh rather than pulled from a large stock of pre-roasted coffee, and the roaster favors direct and fair trade farms when it can. House blends include The Crossing Blend (medium/dark), Campfire Blend Half Caff (dark), The Cove Half Caff (medium) and Cold Brew Blend (dark). Single origins on the list when we checked: Mexico Organic (medium and dark), Costa Rica (dark) and Papua New Guinea (light, limited release). Decaf: Peru Decaf (medium).
