Basalt Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Naches. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Basalt Roasters says it grew out of a love of single origin coffee and a wish to share those flavors through sustainable buying. The roaster works in small batches to show off each origin, variety and process. Its stated aim is lasting ties with producers and importers, likening coffee farms to Yakima growers who rely on each year's crop.
The menu rotates through fresh crop lots such as a yellow honey coffee from El Salvador and Dana Montana from Mexico, alongside a roaster's choice bag and a Guatemalan decaf. Each coffee can be bought on subscription, and the roaster will set up a custom plan by email.

House blends include Cots Peak Coffee Blend and Roasters Choice. Single origins on the list when we checked: LLG Yellow Honey, El Salvador, Colombia Palmera, Dana Montana, Mexico and Ethiopia Refisa. Why buying from Basalt Roasters matters here
Yakima businesses such as Single Hill Brewing and McIlrath Family Farms carry the coffee. Drinks made with its beans are poured at Cot's Peak in Naches and at Crafted, Little Bake Shop and Play/Cafe in Yakima, and Catalyst Coffee serves its decaf. Retail bags also turn up at fruit stands such as Johnson Orchards and the Washington Fruit Place at Barrett Orchards.
