Whidbey Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Clinton, founded in 1989. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
In 1989 Dan Ollis bought an espresso cart and spent a summer selling drinks at local fairs, which led to the company. The company roasts in-house and pours its coffee at 13 locations. Victrola Coffee Roasters is a sister company, and Seattle Coffee Works joined the group in May 2022. Its signature drinks include a Frozen Moka, and the Burlington and Oak Harbor cafes also serve lunch.
Wholesale accounts get equipment guidance, barista training and quality checks that the company says begin at origin with farmers. Sister company Victrola backs competitors in barista, brewing and tasting contests at national and world level and has a newer location at 3rd and Pine in downtown Seattle.
