Velton's Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Everett, founded in 2007. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Velton was head roaster for Top Pot's cafes from 2002 for five years, then left in 2007 to open his own roastery in Everett. Roasting happens on a 12 kilo Diedrich IR-12 fitted with a catalytic afterburner, and web orders are roasted each Monday. Before roasting, he worked coffee jobs in Seattle and on Oahu, and was part owner of a Waikiki beach espresso cart.
Velton grew up in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and at 18 started working part time at the espresso cart by the Tower Records store at 5th and Mercer in Seattle. After returning from Hawaii in 1996 he worked at, then managed, Bauhaus Books and Coffee on Capitol Hill until its owners opened a second Top Pot cafe.

House blends include Bonsai Blend, Treehouse Blend and Twilight Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Costa Rica Finca El Mango (Honey), Bolivia Rosita Catuai (Anaerobic Natural), Guatemala Finca La Bolsa, Tanzania AA Mbilidino, Colombia Huila Caturra 86, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Idido, Mexico Nayarita (Natural) and Brazil Condado Estate. Where to drink it
There is no retail shop; coffee is sold through the website and wholesale accounts.

In Everett, The Milk House Coffee Co. serves only Velton's coffee, and Sno Isle Foods Co-Op sells its blends in 12 ounce bags. Lettered Streets Coffeehouse in Bellingham also pours it exclusively, and the account list stretches to a breakfast cafe in Red Lodge, Montana.
