Bargreen's Coffee Company is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Everett, founded in 1898. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Sam Bargreen started the business in Everett in 1898, delivering freshly roasted beans to customers by horse-drawn wagon. Ownership passed to his son Howard Bargreen, and the company is now led by the third generation, Howie Bargreen. Besides its own stands, it roasts for wholesale and private label customers.
Coffee is roasted daily in small batches for grocery stores, specialty markets, espresso stands and restaurants around the Northwest. The company's stated belief is that good coffee should be affordable and easy to get, and it prices its gourmet coffee with that in mind. Its FAQ says the white coffee is lower in acid and suggests using a third to half the usual amount in a drip machine.

Roast levels run Light, Medium, Dark, French Roast and Italian Roast. House blends include Kahuna Gold Blend, Kahuna Medium Blend, Kahuna Volcano Blend, Breakfast Blend, Organic Breakfast Blend, Mt. Baker Blend, Gourmet Blend, Mocha Java, Mukilteo Lighthouse Blend and 50/50 Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: 100% Colombian and 100% Kenya. The flagship cafe and roasterie keeps weekday and Saturday hours, and two drive-thru stands open early.
