Jocelyn Coffee Roasting is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Seattle. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The business grew out of the COVID-19 lockdown, when Jocelyn and her father blended and roasted a coffee together that became Henry's Roast. Her father spent more than 25 years in green coffee importing. A 2014 trip with him to a coffee farm in Nicaragua got her interested in the trade. After retiring, her father worked with her on a darker blend sold as Dad's Dark Roast.
On the 2014 Nicaragua trip, she and her father lived with a family of coffee growers and worked with Seeds for Progress, a nonprofit funding schooling in rural coffee areas. Before roasting, Jocelyn spent her working life in hospitality, including several years behind an espresso bar.

House blends include Henry's Roast, Dad's Dark Roast, Pacific North Roast, Life in the Tropics and Autumn Roast. Why buying from Jocelyn Coffee Roasting matters here
Its beans are stocked at Puget Sound farm stands and markets, among them 21 Acres in Woodinville and Jubilee Farm in Carnation. Each month a share of sales goes to a different group serving BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ communities. Its shelf includes coffees from women producers, such as a Rwandan lot from the Sholi cooperative, which began as a women's association. Besides farm stands, its bags turn up at climbing gyms Vertical World and Momentum in Seattle, at Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie and at The Pine and Eight in Port Angeles.
Every bag bought from a Seattle roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Washington, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
