JennyBean Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Coupeville, founded in 2011. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
A family micro-roastery in Coupeville, it has roasted certified organic, Fair Trade coffee since 2011. Beans are roasted only after an order arrives, one pound at a time. Because each pound is roasted separately, buyers can ask for a custom roast level or blend instead of choosing only from the menu.
Bags hold a full pound rather than the 12 ounce size most roasters sell, and one rotating coffee is offered for a limited time. Single origins on the current list include Guatemala, Bolivia Caranavi, Mexico Chiapas and an Ethiopian coffee sold under the Coffee for Kids name. A page on the site walks through roast levels from Cinnamon to Spanish and explains that the roaster judges each batch by the color of the beans and the sound of the cracks.

House blends include Smooth Sailing Blend, Rosario Roast Blend, Archipelago Espresso Blend, First Mate's Mug Blend, Captain's Joe Blend, Penn Cove Perk Blend and Dockside Cuppa Java Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Heirloom Ethiopian Sidama, FTO Guatemalan, FTO Bolivian Caranavi, FTO Ethiopian Coffee for Kids and FTO Mexican Chiapas.
