Their story
The company roasts classic dark blends and says its team brings more than 50 years of coffee experience. Its round logo shows a wave pattern meant to depict the third harmonic, a nod to the music that inspires the team. Scott McMartin runs the company; Seattle Magazine wrote in 2016 that he spent almost 20 years at Starbucks, where he bought and blended coffee.
A 2015 Seattle Weekly profile said McMartin learned from Alfred Peet in the early 1990s and later oversaw roasting and buying of 470 million pounds of coffee a year at Starbucks. McMartin describes his own taste as dark roast and told Seattle Weekly, "There is a bit of a lost art in blending."

Roast levels run Dark. House blends include Silk Road Blend, Double Indigo Blend, Humbucker Blend, Stemwinder Blend and Semaphore Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Fancy SHB, Sumatra Tapanuli and Colombia Cattleya. Decaf: Decaf Humbucker Blend. In 2016 the roastery sat in a large SoDo warehouse, open Fridays for tastings and bean sales rather than as a cafe. The lineup is all dark roasted, with blends named Humbucker, Stemwinder, Semaphore, Silk Road and Double Indigo.
