Crandall Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Kettle Falls, founded in 2003. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
A single family has owned and run the company since 2003, roasting organic single origins and blends in small batches. Coffee is roasted only after an order comes in, and the company says it values lasting ties with growers. John and Janet Crandall started the business and ran it for about thirteen years before selling it in spring 2016 to their daughter Carrie and her husband Nathan Peck.
Nathan Peck roasted for two years, then left for a career with the US Forest Service. Jerrad and Tara Crandall gave up jobs in the Seattle area and bought the company in December 2017. Stores that carry the coffee often put bags on the shelf the same day they come out of the roaster. Wholesale buyers can also get custom blends, cuppings and training.
What they roast
House blends include Baby Boomer Blend, Bulldog Blend, Diletto Blend, Lovitt Blend, Rhoda's Morning Sip, The Dawn Blend, Quillisascut Blend and Meyers Falls Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Costa Rica, Ethiopian, Kenya Thiriku, Mexican, Rwanda Kopakaki, Sumatra Ketiara, Congo and Peru Cebicafen. Espresso: Espresso Blend.
