Camber Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Bellingham, founded in 2015. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Camber was founded in 2015 by three licensed Q graders, the trained cuppers who score coffee quality, according to press coverage the company republishes. It roasts in Bellingham and ships orders from that roastery, usually within two business days. The flagship cafe opened in downtown Bellingham in July 2017, with seasonal drink and food menus built around carefully chosen ingredients.
Camber has worked for years with the Pacas family in El Salvador and is one of a small number of US roasters to offer the rare Bernardina variety. Each year it runs an Artist Series with a visual artist, including Colombian illustrator Jhonny Nunez in 2022 and Paige Bowman in 2023. It has made special release coffees with the band Death Cab for Cutie, and in 2023 also with The Postal Service, marking the 20th anniversaries of the albums Transatlanticism and Give Up.
Press coverage notes that its coffee is poured at noted cafes elsewhere, such as G&B and Go Get Em Tiger in Los Angeles. Food and Wine named Camber the best coffee roaster in Washington.

House blends include Ambra, Struttura, Moonrise, Skyline Espresso and Big Joy Espresso. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopia Bedessa, Kenya Kamoini Peaberry, Colombia Oporapa Pink Bourbon, Honduras Geovany Rivera and Honduras Alexis Pineda.
