Their story
The coffee is not roasted at the cafe; every batch is hand roasted in small quantities at a roastery in Auburn. The company buys from smallholder farmers and cooperatives in East Africa and Latin America. Beyond selling beans, the company runs coffee classes and cupping sessions for people who want to learn tasting.
A Roaster's Choice Club sends rotating coffees every month or every two weeks, and subscriptions ship free. Orders are normally roasted, packed and mailed by USPS within three to five business days.
What they roast
House blends include El Capitan, Sonoma Blend and Arrowhead Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Mt Elgon, Uganda, Danbi Udo, Guji, Ethiopia, Ramirez Sarchimor, Nayarit, Mexico, Tarrazu, Costa Rica, El Tambo, Narino, Colombia, Chelchele, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia and Tanzania Mbeya Mwangoka. The cafe at Fifth Avenue and Battery Street in Seattle is open every day from 7am to 6pm. Under the name Coffee Barista School, its baristas teach weekly small-group and one-on-one classes such as Brewing 101 and Cold Brew 101. House drinks on the cafe menu include a honey-cinnamon cafe con miel and an espresso tonic.
