Anchorhead Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Seattle. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The Seattle company roasts to order and runs cafes downtown, on Capitol Hill and at Pike Place. Its main espresso blend mixes 70% natural Ethiopia Guji with 30% washed Brazil. Jake Paulson and Mike Steiner started the company; as of March 2022 it ran four coffee bars and roasted in Duvall, Washington.
Anchorhead took first place in the America's Best Espresso contest at Coffeefest Portland in 2015. Over the years it has also had shops in Bellevue and Issaquah, and it opened a location in Nashville, Tennessee.
What they roast
House blends include Leviathan Espresso Blend, Narwhal Blend and Megalodon Dark Roast Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Joyabaj Honey, Costa Rica El Cedral Dota, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Supernatural, Rwanda Rulinda Murambi, Bali Kintamani Natural and Guatemala El Canchon.
