Victrola Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Washington: an independent roaster based in Seattle, founded in 2000. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Victrola takes its name from the 1920s home phonograph, and the company leans into that Jazz Age feel, from vintage jazz to the architecture of its cafes. The first cafe opened in 2000 on 15th Avenue on Capitol Hill, in a neighborhood that had few places to meet. It was busy enough that the cafe took over the storefront next door within about a year. In 2003 the team began roasting its own coffee in a small back room of the 15th Avenue cafe, working out roast profiles and espresso blends there.
In 2007 it opened a showcase cafe in a 1920s auto row building at the base of Capitol Hill, with the roastery, a training space and a cupping room under one roof. It took over a neighborhood cafe on Beacon Hill near the library and light rail station in 2009. In 2022 it added the Seattle Coffee Works brand and cafes, which also brought a new sourcing relationship in Guatemala, and the two brands were merged under the Victrola name in May 2024.
Victrola's owner is Vibe Coffee Group, which announced the Seattle Coffee Works purchase in 2022. Victrola buys through importer partners but aims for lasting relationships with producers. It has bought from Luis Alberto Balladerez in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua for close to ten years, and has bought the entire harvest of Denis Teruel's Finca las Brisas in Honduras since 2014. It says it pays above the Fair Trade minimum even for coffees that are not certified, and prefers shade grown coffees from producers who do not use chemical treatments.

House blends include Empire Blend, Big Band Blend, Paramount Blend, Space Blend, Triborough Espresso Blend, Streamline Espresso Blend and Deco Decaf Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Colombia La Union, Brazil Sitio Campestre, Kenya Kathendu and Burundi Akeza. Two espresso blends (Triborough and Streamline) plus a rotating single origin espresso. Deco Decaf Blend. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-27.
Where to drink it
The Pike Street cafe houses the roastery, and free public cuppings are held there on select Fridays at 11 am.

Started as a neighborhood cafe on 15th Avenue on Capitol Hill in 2000, and the cafe still hosts a community room that neighbors can reserve for free. The Ballard cafe on NW Market St also has a reservable community room and sits near the Sunday Ballard Farmers Market. The Thomas St cafe is in the 1927 Troy Laundry Building in South Lake Union, a Seattle Landmark since 1996. The 3rd and Pine cafe is in the Macy's building above Westlake Station.
