Where Trade is stronger
Trade has far more range. It says it works with more than 55 roasters and keeps 500+ coffees in rotation, and its Signature tier opens up more than 180 single origins, updated weekly. If you want coffee from Georgia one month and Wisconsin the next, no single state's roasters can match that spread.
Its matching has more machinery behind it than ours. Trade leans on its quiz and its tasting team. It says Q Graders cup every coffee and log acidity, body and flavor notes, and it uses those scores to match coffees to your profile. You can also swap to a specific coffee or repeat a delivery you liked from your dashboard.
On price, Trade's Essential tier is a match for us: $16.99 a bag, though its bag is 10.93 oz against our 12 oz. It also includes free shipping on the trial. It backs the first bag with a replacement if it misses: "Love it or we'll replace it."
Trade also puts its roast-to-ship window in writing: it states that once a coffee is roasted it ships within 48 hours by USPS Ground Advantage. Our own promise is "Roasted and shipped within 3 days." Those are two different windows, stated plainly, so you can weigh them yourself.
Where we differ
- Every bag we send is roasted in Washington State by an independent roaster, from Olympia to Spokane to Bellingham. Trade features at least one Washington roaster, Broadcast Coffee of Seattle, among many from other states.
- Two roasters in one box. Order two bags and set the second to its own roast and style. The two bags can come from two different Washington roasters.
- There is no separate trial to finish first. The first bag of box one is free, you pay $7.99 shipping, then it is $16.99 a bag.
- Gifts that stop on their own. Our 3, 6 and 12 box gifts include shipping and do not renew. The buyer picks the roast, the grind and a start date, and can add a gift note.
The fixed promises that come with every box:

Three coffees from three roasters arrive one at a time, the first one free, and Trade says subscriptions roast and ship every two weeks, with the frequency adjustable from your dashboard after the first delivery. You can swap, pause or cancel during the trial.
With us, you set a roast level, a style and a grind in the plan builder, or answer three quiz questions, and choose every 2 or 4 weeks. Box one carries your first bag free, and you pay $7.99 shipping. From there it is $16.99 a bag. Neither wins outright: Trade suits you if you want coffees from many US roasters matched by a quiz, and Atlas suits you if you want one single origin from a different country each month.
Is Trade Coffee worth it?
It is worth it if you want range and matching: 55+ roasters, a quiz, and a Discovery Trial of three bags with the first free, checked September 27, 2026. If you want only Washington State roasters, it is the wrong tool.
Does Trade Coffee send Washington coffee?
Sometimes. Trade's home page features Broadcast Coffee of Seattle among its roasters, but its pool spans the whole country, so a Washington bag is one possibility among many.
